Ms. Linda Broyhill

Linda S. Broyhill is a partner in the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. and is a member of the firm’s bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors’ rights section in Washington. She represents banks, shopping center landlords and management groups, and energy groups. She handles insolvency-related matters, Chapter 11 reorganizations, creditors’ rights issues, and financial workouts outside of bankruptcy.
Ms. Broyhill represents both debtors and creditors in insolvency proceedings, including analysis of debtors’ liability and solvency; the nature, extent and enforceability of bank loan documents; negotiation of cash collateral agreements; negotiation of assumption and assignment of lease agreements; and post-petition financing, valuation hearings, lift stay and confirmation hearings. She has also prosecuted and defended actions to recover preferences and fraudulent transfers in federal court, as well as negotiated the sale and liquidation of assets in and out of bankruptcy.
Ms. Broyhill received her B.S. in 1973 and her J.D. in 1983 from the University of Virginia. She is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. She is a member of Walter Chandler Inn of Court and serves on the board of directors of the National Capital Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ms. Broyhill lectured at the Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice, and co-authored a seminar, Shopping Center Tenants in Bankruptcy: An Educational Primer for Leasing Executives and Attorneys, presented in 1992 in St. Louis, Missouri.
