Fairfax, VA - On Monday, October 27, American Red Cross of the National Capital Area hosted a tour within the Chapter's Regional Disaster Coordination Center (RDCC) for the Emirates Foundation. The United Arab Emirates government and the Emirates Red Crescent are seeking to build a regional disaster coordination center, and visited the National Capital Area's RDCC to see first-hand how the center is staged for staffing and equipment, prepared to handle regional emergency needs in the midst of a disaster, and also an understanding of how vital technology and communications enables staff to work with partnering agencies. The National Capital Area remains committed to assisting with emergency preparedness locally and internationally.
