Teaming Up for Preparedness

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Friday, February 15, American Red Cross of the National Capital Area staff and volunteers delivered two shelter-ready trailers to the Unified Communications Center on Martin Luther King Avenue in Southeast, DC. The trailers, stocked with supplies used in the event of a natural or man-made disaster, are two of 48 trailers purchased with funding from the UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) Grant.

Each year  the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 60,000 disasters. Disasters include hurricanes, floods, blizzards, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosives, and other man-made disasters.
