Send a Touch of Home to Members of the Military

The American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign has officially kicked off. This campaign gives Americans an opportunity to send a touch of home during the holiday season to members of our U.S. military, veterans and their families in the United States and around the world. Individuals, organizations and companies throughout the National Capital Region will partner with the Red Cross to participate in the Holiday Mail for Heroes Campaign this year. ExxonMobile hosted a card making event to engage its employees in the campaign and U.S. Airways will also host a month-long event in November at Reagan National Airport, giving the public a chance to sign cards for service members.

The Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign is also a great activity for families and children. If you’re interested in participating in the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign, please mail your creations to the address below. The P.O. Box closes on December 9th so all cards must be postmarked no later than that date. Remember, in order to make the cards as meaningful as possible to a wide audience we recommend using generic card titles, such as “Dear Service Member, Family Member or Veteran.” When addressing cards, do not include inserts of any kind, as these will be removed during the card sorting process. To review the full list of guidelines, please visit www.redcross.org/holidaymail.
