Introduction to Disaster Services is an online, basic level course consisting of three separate learning modules that will introduce participants toAmerican Red Cross Disaster Services and allow them to discover how volunteers support this critical mission and to explore ways they can become involved in a local chapter. 

 

Purpose

The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services online course is to engage and inspire the public to actively participate in supporting American Red Cross disaster response. 

 

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, participants will be able to—

  •  Identify how communities and the Red Cross work together to prepare for disasters and continue to work together during and after a disaster, emphasizing the Red Cross role.
  • Describe how individuals in Red Cross Disaster Services contribute to preparing for and alleviating the effects of a disaster through the services we provi
  • Identify ways to volunteer with or contribute to the activities of Red Cross response in their local community.
  • Contact your local Red Cross to learn more about volunteering with disaster response.  

 

Audience

Employees and volunteers of the Red Cross who wish to gain an awareness of Red Cross Disaster Services. Chapters may also require new volunteers complete the course before advancing through other courses offered in the existing Disaster Services curriculum. 

 

Prerequisites Recommended:

There are no prerequisites for this courseLengthThis course is comprised of three modules, and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Completing all three modules is required to earn a course certificate.
