Health and Safety Classes

Each year, the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area trains tens of thousands of individuals in lifesaving skills such as CPR and first aid. We provide HIV/AIDS education and water safety training for people of all ages and babysitting training for teens ages 11-15.

First Aid for Coaches. This course is a component of Sport Safety Training and was developed by the United States Olympic Committee and the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis. It teaches American Red Cross first aid in the context of sport and the prevention of sport-related injuries, and about becoming a more responsible coach and safely returning the athlete to play. Universal Precautions for Tattoo Artists and Body Piercers. This course is especially relevant for body artists and meets the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards as well as standards of other states and countries. Click here for online training now!

Workplace Training Program

The American Red Cross is also committed to stressing the importance to businesses of having employees that are certified in lifesaving first aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

If you are interested in obtaining health and safety training at your business, the Red Cross Workplace Training Program is perfect for you and your company.

Our Workplace Training Program has trained health and safety instructors coming to your place of business with all necessary materials, and conducting training classes at your convenience.

Businesses: Become an Authorized Provider

An Authorized Provider is an individual or organization that has a Red Cross trained instructor who can provide American Red Cross health and safety programs in-house. By becoming an Authorized Provider, you can build your own training team to teach health and safety courses to employees of your business or members of your organization. Each year, the National Capital Area Chapter trains tens of thousands of individuals in lifesaving skills such as CPR and first aid. We provide HIV/AIDS education and water safety training for people of all ages and babysitting training for teens 11-15.
